It's Tybee Time for Grand Wine!
It’s the perfect time for Tybee Time and Grand Wine at the 2012 Tybee Wine Festival!
The Tybee Post Theater will host the annual wine festival April 12-15, offering something for everyone. For instance, the signature event will be the Grand Wine Tasting on Saturday from 2 PM-5 PM. Located on the Tybee Lighthouse grounds, this event will feature tastings and samplings of international wines, craft beers and tastes from our famous Tybee area eateries. It will also feature a silent auction and a limited edition 2012 Tybee Wine Festival glass. There will be live music featuring Julie Wilde & The Bohemian Dream Band and Marshall, Tanner & Gill.
This year’s festival closes with a special champagne tasting and sit-down brunch, surrounded by the fresh air and breezes of the Atlantic Ocean. Champagne tasting will begin at 12:30pm and brunch, including mimosa and dessert bars, will be served at 1:00pm. The menu includes Baked Eggs with Cheese & Chives, Local Shrimp & Grits with Andouille Sausage Gravy, Banana Pecan, Blueberry Lemon and Raspberry Streusel Muffins, Fresh Fruit, Sour Cream Pound Cake with Fresh Strawberry Sauce, New York Style Cheesecake and Rich Chocolate Cupcakes! Live music with Alberto Puentes completes the island ambiance!
This year’s festival has grown, so If you’ve never volunteered before, this is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the Tybee Post Theater and the events this weekend. It’s Tybee Time and the wine is fine!
The Tybee Post Theater will host the 4th Annual Tybee Wine Festival, April 12-15! There will be fun-filled events with something for everyone. One of the best ways to enJOY fine wine is to pair it with seafood fresh from our Tybee waters!
Legend has it that Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, sprang forth from the sea on an oyster shell and promptly gave birth to Eros. Thus began the belief that oysters, harvested and consumed since Roman times, hold special aphrodisiacal powers. If you are a romantic and love the tastes of the sea, join us for an Evening of Oysters & Wine at Marlin Monroe’s Surfside Grill where the world will be your oyster, served a variety of scrumptious ways:
- Classic Oysters on the 1/2 shell – served raw and steamed
- Fannie’s famous Oysters Rockafannie
- Tiger Oysters – lightly breaded and fried, served over tiger sauce with and topped with a remoulade
- Grilled Oysters, on the 1/2 shell in garlic butter with fresh Parmesan and chive
- Confetti Oysters – topped with fontina cheese, apple-wood bacon and tri-colored pepper confetti
- Bonnie’s Marinated Oysters! – Ceviche style!
Along with oysters will be an array of perfectly matched wines – all designed to complement your oyster feast! There will be music, dancing and a live auction where some lucky bidder will win a stay at an exclusive dream vacation location.
Tickets for an Evening of Oysters & Wine and the other wine festival events are limited and I still have a few Tybee Joy beach homes and condos available, so get your tickets and reserve your beach house right away!
