Spend A Day In My Flip-Flops: Strolling Down The Avenue
If you think living on an island is wonderful you are so right! Of course, most people think the beach is the only place to be. Our beautiful Tybee beach is a paradise, but there are other parts of the island that are pretty terrific, too.
Jones Avenue is one of the main connectors from the south of the island to the north and it’s a also a wonderful way to see how our locals live. Just two and half blocks back from the beach, quaint and colorful houses line both sides of the street. I love strolling down the avenue so I can see what’s in bloom and so that I can admire the combination of colors on the houses, doors and shutters. It’s also a great way to meet some of our wonderful Tybee cats that lounge away their time on the lawns, content to sprawl lazily under a shade tree while enjoying our island breeze.
One of my favorite homes on Jones Avenue is our Brad’s Bungalow. This 3 BR/2 Bath cottage sleeps 9 comfortably and it’s also pet friendly! Open and spacious with lots of windows that fill the cottage with warmth and peace, it’s easy to feel right at home. The beach is just a short stroll from the front of the house and it’s an equally short jaunt in the other direction towards the marsh area for kayaking or enjoying a great meal at AJ’s Dockside!
There’s lots to discover on Tybee Island and one of the best ways to really experience our island is to slow down and take a walk or hop on a bike. The quiet sounds of nature in the background are the perfect compliment to the clean, salty air. You might even find that smile you’ve been missing. If you don’t believe me, just give me a call and I’ll let you spend the day in my flip-flops. It’s just that easy!
